Poetry Slam

This is the poem Chris is delivering.  It's called Clickety-clack Cicada.

We are giving feedback on each other's poetry slam (recital).   We need to write two stars (two positive comments)  and a wish (something to improve on).   We are writing our comments about things like:

• Eye contact
• Volume
• Facial expressions like eye brows
• Articulation - speaking clearly.
• Voice expressions - high and lows, speed changes.
• Gestures - body and hands 

We use a random name selector on the Internet to chose the order of our recitals.  Robert was first.

Building Sustainability

Lettuce Salad!  My tastebuds are tingling already.  Looks yummy,  very yummy!   I should probably tell you what we are doing, we are making planter boxes and we had to find a recipe that you can make with the vegetables.  One idea is lettuce salad.  That is the only one I thought of so far.

Room 12 Pinewood Derby FINALS

Today we held our final races for the Room 12 Pinewood Derby.  Eight cars raced in the final.  We raced each car three times and recorded their finishing times.  We then averaged the times to find our winner.  

Congratulations to Charlotte (bronze), Jessica R (Silver) and Emma (Gold).

Oliver's car missed out on qualifying but we tried our his sleek, streamlined shape anyway.

Helping Organisation

Red group are going to finish our helping organisation writing. We have an introduction, three body parts and a conclusion. We are on the conclusion. We are wrote about fundraising money for World Vision to help children. You could make a lemonade stand for fundraising.

This is the "hamburger" we used to write our report.

100 Word Challenge Comments

We are posting comments on the Westburn school's writing in the 100 world challenge. Westburn is in Christchurch and the kids are year 5s just like us. The comments include two positive comment and one work on comment.

Flexi Time

In the photo is my checklist. Only eight people in our class have numbered checklists like me. It tells us what to do first and last. Max, Shannen and I have to get Mr P to sign off our checklist every time we do a job. On the first day I did three activities then on the second day I did four but on the third day I did five. I am improving all the time.

Swimming

Today we are learning to float on our back and kick. Now we are learning float on our tummy and kick. We are using boards.

Spelling City

Today we need to finish our tasks.  I am doing Spelling City and word-o-pillar. It is hard and fun at the same time.  We have to make up the words from the letters. Sometimes it is frustrating because sometimes the letter goes back to the start.
