Reading

Sometimes we have DEAR (silent reading)  for 30 minutes and then Mr Peacock reads a book to us. We finished our book called "Wonder".

Kapa Haka

Every Friday we have choir and kapa haka. Mr Peacock is taking us because Ms Mac is sick.  For kapa haka the boys are learning the haka.

Wonder by R.J. Palacio.

Sometimes we read a book called Wonder.   It is a good book because in the book there is 1082 pages.   It is written by RJ Palacio.   It is so amazing that we read for 25 or 30 minutes.   We have to go to the hall for a singing assembly at 2:30pm to 3:00pm.

Reading In Rm 12 D.E.A.R

Each day we do some reading.   It is so much fun because I read with Luke.  We sometimes we read for 30 or 25 minutes.  I am reading "Kick Off".    I like this book because it is a good book and it is about football.   Kick Off is written by Iain McGaig.

Flexi Time

At 10:00am the Yr 6s go to their group time and the yr 5s go on to Flexi Time.    Here is a photo of Caleb is doing his spelling.

Buddy Reading

We are about to go to buddy reading with room 2 and 3.  We usually read with them but today we are doing colouring in, cutting and gluing.  I have five buddies but Luke join me, thank goodness.

Refugee Topic

One refugee without hope is one too many.  We are in room 9, room 10, and 12 refugee are people that have to leave their home because war is going on in their country.  We are watching a video of them.

We are learning about refugees and today Ms Moore come in to relieve for Mrs Ryalls.  Ms Moore has a family of refugees who she goes to see once a week.  She is a volunteer for Red Cross.  She told us about The Mangere refugee centre is a camp where refugees go when they first arrive in New Zealand.

Flexi Time

Hi!   Hey I am Kane and I am doing a blog.   Monday to Friday we do Flexi Time for at least 1 hour. We do it from 9:40 until 10:30.  Flexi Time is where we do work independently.  We have three Flexi Time days this week but some weeks we have four.   We have an meeting with all of the class (rm 9, rm10, rm12) in room 11 to find out all our jobs for Flexi Time.

Trapped: Sentences

Today for our Focus Writing group we went on are school website and then we went on our Room 12 class website.  We went on the site called "Trapped: sentences" and it looked fun at first sight.  We have been learning for a long time about compound and complex sentence.

Mr P adds: This game/activity helped us to review our learning while having fun.

Thursday 12th May

We are Reading a Book called Wonder. The book is written by RJ Palacio. The book is about an ordinary 10 year old boy. He has a lot of ordinary toys and he does a lot of ordinary things but others don't think that he is ordinary. I think he a boy with one eye who sits in his room because he is shy.

Books

We are at the library getting books out.   This is the book at I am getting out called Beastly Tales to read because I left all my book from home so I can not get a book out.   I can get a book a next week.

Maths

We are playing bingo in room 10 maths.   I am with Gardenia from Room 9.  We are playing together and we have not got a bingo yet so we have to wait.

CRE

Today we are at Champions.    We are going to play a game at the end of Champions.   If we are listening well we get a little tokens.   If you get a red token or  a white token you play a game.

Autumn Art

This is Jessie's leaf.   It is not finished but it is looking good.  Jessie is working with Noah.    They are hard-working kids.  Jessie is on step five already.  I like Jessie's pictures and I think she like it herself.  Anthony likes it too.
