We are at CRE doing a game day. In the photo four people are trying to wrap the other four people in toilet paper. Normally we learn about God and the Bible. Today we are doing game day because it is the last week for the term.

Here are Ashleigh and Kayla doing their work on the Olympics.  We're are trying to get the information on the Olympics competitors. We are trying to tell Mr P when, when and who is competing.

Mr P adds: We are following the cycling events and athletes (BMX, Mountain Biking, Track and Road).  These athletes have to battle forces to go as fast as they can.  In science we are learning about forces.

O-Mathalon Training

Easy Blog Photo

This is my special math class. We normally go there on Thursdays but today we went there on Wednesday. Next week on Tuesday we are going to the O-Mathalon (o-math-a-lon). When we are there we have to run around and answer math questions. We hope we win!

Helping Organisations Reports

Easy Blog Photo

Here is Logan using the computer to make a report on his helping organisation. We have been researching and writing these for about a term.  We are going to be putting them into a website called printing press then we will save them into our google drive and Mr P will print them off and we can hang them up on the wall.

Quick Ten

Easy Blog Photo

Today we get a picture of two eggs standing by a pan watching another egg getting cooked.  Mrs Williams is telling us about the picture and giving us some ideas about the egg and what to write about.   Mr Williams then walks through all the classes to check that no one is talking then she starts a timer for ten minutes.  As soon as the ten minutes is up we quickly swap to handwriting and finally, once we finish handwriting, we go to Flexi Time.

Certificates

  • 0
Every week we award one certificate for our focus value.  This week Finn was given our certificate because he helped Logan when he fell off his scooter and took a chunk of skin out of his leg.

The way we decide our person for certificates is we have a think of a person who has shown our focus value then we put up our hands.  This term's value is caring.  Mr P lets three people nominate a person they think has shown caring that week.  We have to give a reason or example to justify our nomination then we have a vote with our eyes closed.  But this week Mr P just picked Finn because he was so caring in an emergency.

Voucher Books

This is Mr P handing out the voucher books.  They are worth $60 but the have so many vouchers in them they have a worth over $2000 so trust me it's worth it.

My Optimist Poster

Easy Blog Photo

Here is my poster of how to sail a optimist.  This is one of our activities for literacy.  We are doing this activity to put the posters on the wall so other people can learn.

The teachers got the idea from when we went sailing at camp.  At first Mr P wanted us to make the posters on paper but then he changed his mind and just told us to type up the written part on the computer.   But I didn't hear him correctly and made my whole poster on the computer.  After seeing my work Mr P changed his mind again and now everyone is doing it on the computer.

There are so many advantages for doing it on the computer. First of all it is so much easier to type neatly and if we make a mistake we can just backspace.  I drew my diagram of a man in sailing gear on the computer and if I put a thing in the wrong place, I don't have to rub it out, I can just move it.

So personally I think it was one of my best mistakes.

The 3D Printer!

Easy Blog Photo

This is a three dimensional printer.  Mrs McDonald purchased the 3D printer before she left our school.  When we first got it the Room 12 maths class made dice using the printer.  It hasn't been used for a while.

We started using it again in the 2016 maths class to print out 3D pentominoes. Pentominoes are a 2D shape made up of five squares.   So we decided to make 3D pentominoes with building blocks (cubes) then we drew them down on to some isometric dotted paper to help us draw cubes in 3D.

Mr P gave us a challenge to find and draw all 12 flat pentominoes.   Then after we find and draw them we have to go to a website called Tinkercad.  On Tinkercad we can go to a menu and select a cube then we get to put the cubes together to create our shapes.  I can't wait till I get to print out one of my pentominoes.

The Tents

Here is everybody packing up the tents.

They were practising how to put them up for camp.

Mr P adds:  It was hot hard work today pitching tents.  These are the tents we will stay in on camp next week.  We have practised working as a team to pitch them.

Maths In Room 12

Easy Blog Photo

Today in room 12 for maths we are working on a camp problem.  The problem is what day will children be going and what the weather will be like?  In the problem book the child are going to Marama Island.  My partner Logan and I chose the date the 18 to the 22 March.  On the 18 it is cloudy then on the 19 it is really sunny.   The same on the 20 and 21 then on the 22 it is raining.

This is Cole and Logan's timetable made on Google Docs after having looked over the weather forecast and chosen their dates.

Our Responsibilities

Easy Blog Photo
Here is Mr P. telling us our responsibilities. Our responsibilities choices are Physical Activity Leaders, Techno Kids, Mentors and Green Team. PALs run the sports shed and run games with their class on Friday.  The Techno Kids look after the technology such as plugging it in after school for charging. The Green Team looks after the gardens and they get to go on trips to look at other Gardens.  Mentors get to look after the little kids and they get to play with them. I was a Techno Kid
