What A Wonder Of A Book

Almost everyday we read from our book the book is called "Wonder".   It's about a boy called August who has a deformed face (Craniofacial disfigurement).  Today we read about Julian ("August's friend") who put horrible letters in August's school locker.  One of the notes said "Do everyone a favour and just die."   Julian's getting suspended for two weeks and he's going to miss the nature school trip that he wanted to go on.

Keeping Ourselves Save

Every week Constable Fegan comes in to talk about keeping ourselves saves.  We learned about who to tell if we're getting bullied at home. What will happen to our parents if we told the police we got told that they might go to anger manage the classes or parenting school.

We read a story.  It was about a boy who didn't want to play with his friends because it hurt.  We later learned that it was because he had bruises and elongated cuts all over his arms and legs.

 Constable Fegan then showed his taser to the class.   It made a noise.  It has little pellets that fire really fast and hit people and give them a big electric shock.

 EXCLAIMER:  Constable Fegan didn't actually fire the Tazer because it's dangerous.

Kiwi Golf

Today we practising our great golf skills.  Here we are lined up in rows practising out golf swings with flags.  Everyone enjoyed the wonderful sound of the flags swinging around.  We then rushed back to the red meeting flag and watched Jacob as he practised his swing with a club and hit the ball.   We had five goes to each at smashing a different size ball the ball sizes including a ...

Persuading

This is room 12 using persuasive writing we are learning to persuade people to stop and think about what's happening around the World so that we can have a healthy world and so that our grand- children's grand-children live a healthier life.

Do you know how to write persuasively ?  Well room twelve does.

We've been learning how to  “persuade” people. We sometimes persuade our parents. For example:

I think we should be able to spend our pocket money in whatever way we want because we have earned it by doing work.

Against

I don't think we should be able to spend our pocket money in whatever way we want because it's our parents money in the end , also if you want to buy a playstation your parents might not approve of having one.

“For” means that we want it , Against means we don't think that it should be that way.

Maybe you have used persuasive writing before?

Practising For Assembly

We are practicing for assembly. We're singing "The Weekend Song". It's all about how men say "We'll fix it on the weekend," but they forget it.  The boys sing this part.   The girls' part is the chorus which says "The weekend, the weekend, they'll fix it on the weekend.  The weekend, the weekend, they'll fix it very soon!"

Muggle Quidditch Explanation

Abbey is explaining to the class how to play a game that featured in Harry Potter, Quidditch.  She explained what the points are worth: 10 points to get the netball in the hoop.  Capturing the Snitch (a person running with a tennis ball hanging in a sock behind them) is 30 points and means that the game is over.

Choir Practice

On Friday we join Mrs Mac in the hall for Choir practice. We practise all the songs at home ( Well we're supposed to anyway ).  At the end of term one we choose what activity we wanted to do we had a number of choices of things. There were Kapa Haka, Music Festival and Ukelele Jam.   I chose Music Festival because I like singing in my own time.

Buddy Reading With Room Two & Three

Every Friday Room 12 go to room two & three so the can progress on their  reading.  We help them with hard words by helping sounding the words out when they are tricky.  We also help with fun activities like making light up bottles for Matariki night.  Here are all the instructions of what were doing today.

Reading Our Book

This term were reading the Jungle Book.  Today we have learnt all new things like the porpoise it is like a dolphin but with a nose instead of the pointed bit on the end. We also learned what and where the Bering Sea.  This term we have entered a competition on a Rv programme (StickyTV) to get us class tickets to the new Jungle Book movie.

Chris's Mini Picture

Here is Chris's mihi picture. We are putting this type of picture on our mihi but of ourselves.  We have to put this on along with our drawing of Saddle Hill.   We are learning to speak Maori thoroughly and learn the names of family of our family tree (our whakapapa).

Room 12 Maths Pentominoes

These are the pentominoes that Mr P made at home.  The room 12 maths class helped to.  The pentominoes are supposed to join together as a puzzle but it doesn't quite work because of the bumps on the pentominoes.

Risk Taking Story

Oliver and I are writing a story about risk taking.  We have to write about being at camp and having to take risks.  Oliver and I have great ideas for our story and are progressing really fast.

Camp Preparation 2016

This is the third day of camp preparation, my group is group D.  Today we are in room 9 with Mrs Ryalls.  We are learning how to pack our bags for when we go to camp.  Mrs Ryalls wants us to take an extra pair of every kind of necessity such as underwear.  We are all looking excited for going to camp.

Quick Ten Dexters Dilemma By Logan Ramage

Today in quick ten we are writing about Dexter's Dilemma.  There was a piece of cake in front of Dexter and he was going crazy-eyed.   Logan has created the story.
