Buddy Reading
Every Friday Room 12 do buddy reading with room 2 and 3. Today my buddy and I read "I'm the King of the Mountain." It is about all the animals who want to be the King of the mountain but in the end the smallest one of the animals called "Flea" ends up being the King of the mountain. We do buddy because it helps younger people to read and encourages young people to read.
Quick 10
At the start of the day the senior syndicate does Quick 10. First the syndicate meets in room 11 to discuss the picture we are writing about today. A the moment the Olympics are on and Lisa Carrington won two medals (gold and bronze) and she carried the NZ flag at the Rio Olympics closing ceremony and around her neck is a gold medal. Our picture today is LIsa Carrington with the gold medal around her neck and carrying the flag. While we are writing Mrs Williams comes around and gives as Class Dojo points for being on task. At the end of each week Mr P adds up all of our dojo points and the top six point scorers get a bar of chocolate.
Wonder
At the end of each day Mr P reads to us from a book called "Wonder." Today we had finished one of the parts. The name of the new part is "Justin." In the book there are lots of parts like "Jack" and "August. " It's a really good book.
Mr P adds: Each part of the book is written from the perspective of a different person in the life of August Pullman. This part "Justin", is written from perspective of August's sister's boyfriend, Justin. It is very challenging to read because the author has written the text as some teenagers would, without capital letters, fullstops, txt speak and many errors!
DEAR
Maths
Today at the start of maths time Miss Burnett played a game with us called Beep. It is where we pick a table (e.g. 5 times table) then we would get in a circle and someone would start with 1, then 2, then 3, then 4 and when the person gets to 5 they would say"Beep".
After we finished Beep we went onto our activities. My first activity was my bucket. My bucket is a bucket filled with activities to do over the week. I made my own calendar and then I went onto my maths on the computer. The activity Miss Burnett gave us was to write all the days of the week in English and Maori.
At the end of each maths lesson Miss Burnett will stop us all and say "Dairy time" and then we all stop and fill out our dairy of what we did today.

Quick 10
Quick ten is where we all meet in Room 11 to discuss what picture we are writing about. Then we all walk back to our rooms to write our story about the picture. Todays picture is a frog walking on a branch of a tree and another frog dangling get off his leg (see below).
Mrs Williams goes around giving out Dojo points to the senior syndicate while we write. After ten minutes is up Mrs Williams will come in and say "Times up move on to handwriting now".
The letter we are doing this week is "Nn". My teacher Mr P always puts up a sentence. The sentence this week is "Noah knows not why Norbit nibbles his nails nervously".
Finally we move onto Flexi Time.
Flexi Time
Flexi time is where we will get a list of activities/tasks we have to try to complete. The tasks that we have are writing, atlas, word work, handwriting and spelling. I got everything finished but atlas.
